Groundwork makes commitments and other financial decisions on behalf of participants in advance of the course based upon enrollment. These policies are designed so that Groundwork can make effective financial decisions to best prepare for our courses. The following policies apply in all cases, regardless of the reason the participant chooses to cancel their participation in the course. The words “course” and “courses” as used in these polices refers to all of Groundwork’s classes, lectures, meetings, workshops, seminars, courses, and other educational offerings. All tuition refunds are calculated based on the tuition you paid, regardless of what other pricing options were available and are currently available for the course.
Please read the following policies based on the course you have registered for.
Courses 1 to 2 days in length (includes folk school classes, field courses, and classroom workshops)
- Full tuition is due at time of registration.
- If you withdraw from an open-enrolled course:
- More than 45 days prior to the course start date, Groundwork will retain 20% of the course tuition you paid, up to a maximum of $40.
- Between 21 and 45 days prior to the course start date, Groundwork will retain 50% of the course tuition you paid.
- Within 21 days of the course start date, Groundwork will retain 100% of course tuition you paid.
- At any time, you may:
- Inquire if we have a waitlist. If we can fill your spot from a waitlist, you can withdraw from the course and Groundwork will partly refund the tuition you paid, retaining a 20% administrative fee, up to a maximum fee of $40.
- Transfer your registration to another person of your choosing for no fee.
- If the course start date is more than 21 days away, you may:
- Transfer your registration to another class currently listed. You would owe Groundwork the tuition difference if the new class has a higher tuition. Groundwork would retain tuition difference up to $40 if the new class has a lower tuition.
- Cancel your registration and receive a credit for a future class with Groundwork to be used in 1 year. You would owe Groundwork the tuition difference if the new class has a higher tuition. Groundwork would retain tuition difference up to $40 if the new class has a lower tuition.
Courses 3 to 6 days in length (includes folk school classes, field courses, and classroom workshops)
- Full tuition is due at time of registration.
- If you withdraw from an open-enrolled course:
- More than 45 days prior to the course start date, Groundwork will retain 50% of the course tuition you paid.
- Between 21 and 45 days prior to the course start date, Groundwork will retain 75% of the course tuition you paid.
- Within 21 days of the course start date, Groundwork will retain 100% of course tuition you paid.
- At any time, you may:
- Inquire if we have a waitlist. If we can fill your spot from a waitlist, you can withdraw from the course and Groundwork will partly refund the tuition you paid, retaining a 20% administrative fee, up to a maximum fee of $55.
- Transfer your registration to another person of your choosing for no fee.
- If the course start date is more than 30 days away, you may:
- Transfer your registration to another class currently listed. You would owe Groundwork the tuition difference if the new class has a higher tuition. Groundwork would retain tuition difference up to $55 if the new class has a lower tuition.
Courses greater than 6 days in length (includes folk school classes, field courses, and classroom workshops)
- A 50% non-refundable deposit is due at time of registration to reserve and hold your space.
- Full tuition is due 75 days from course start date. For participants registering within 75 days of course start date, full tuition is required to reserve a space.
- If you withdraw from an open-enrolled course:
- More than 75 days prior to the course start date, Groundwork will retain 50% of the course tuition you paid.
- Between 30 and 75 days prior to the course start date, Groundwork will retain 75% of the course tuition you paid.
- Within 30 days of the course start date, Groundwork will retain 100% of course tuition you paid.
- At any time, you may:
- Inquire if we have a waitlist. If we can fill your spot from a waitlist, you can withdraw from the course and Groundwork will partly refund the tuition you paid, retaining a 20% administrative fee, up to a maximum fee of $85.
- Transfer your registration to another person of your choosing for no fee.
- If the course start date is more than 60 days away, you may:
- Transfer your registration to another class currently listed. You would owe Groundwork the tuition difference if the new class has a higher tuition. Groundwork would retain tuition difference up to $85 if the new class has a lower tuition.
Course Cancellation:
If Groundwork cancels a course for any reason, Groundwork will do its best to refund tuition that has not been invested into course preparation. At its sole discretion, Groundwork may retain up to 35% of tuition based on costs incurred to prepare for a course.
Leaving a Course Already In Progress:
If you choose to leave a course for any reason all tuition is non-refundable. If you need to leave a course for medical reasons, all tuition is non-refundable.
