How to use the readers

We have several suggestions for incorporating these readings in to formal and informal curriculum.

  1. Suggest readings as extracurricular reading for curious and engaged students on experiential courses. Try meeting weekly to discuss optional readings.
  2. Read aloud entire or partial pieces.
  3. Assign students articles with conflicting viewpoints and prepare a debate with students posing as the authors.
  4. Assign different articles to each student or pair of students and have a dinner party where each student tries to convince others why their article says the most important things.
  5. Assign the same reading for all students and discuss as a large group, in small groups, or in pairs.

How to bind the small booklets

We find that the most durable booklets are sewn together with a simple pamphlet stitch. This creates a durable finished product that looks and feels high quality. You could also consider printing the first page on cardstock or a thick paper.
